Really Reel Ginger is a ginger-based beverage business in Philadelphia, Pa: Currently, there are four Really Reel Ginger beverage flavors that are locally manufactured and Retailed: Ginger lemon and Mint, Hibiscus Ginger Lemon and Mint, Tamarind Ginger and Mint & Baobab and Ginger. There is an assortment of ginger candy treats sold as well.

Our Story

Iliyaas Muhammad graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a Business option. While he was in Mali, West Africa serving forty-four (44) months as a United States Peace Corps volunteer, he learned a great deal concerning the rich history of Africa, it’s people, and traditional recipes. During this period of his development, he realized that aside from ginger ale, which has little to no ginger in it, there were few real ginger beverages in the US market. Iliyaas recognized that lack of pertinent knowledge and years of routine were to blame for this oversight.

Once Iliyaas returned to the US, he decided that entrepreneurship was the best avenue to take to become financially independent. After testing a number of business ventures, his wife, Hadia Muhammad, who was born in Mali West Africa, encouraged him to revisit the possibility of working with ginger. Hadia and her family has been making ginger beverages for decades in Mali. So they developed the age old family recipe to create Really Reel Ginger.

Our Mission

Iliyaas Muhammad and Hadia Muhammad founded Really Reel Ginger due to the lack of and demand for real ginger beverages. Their innovative product is in taking a value added approach of transforming the highly beneficial ginger root into a delicious beverage.
